Sharm El Sheikh to Petra
De Sharm El Sheikh a Petra
From Sharm El Sheikh to Petra Visit Petra to visit a historical and archaeological city in Jordan,
an old Nabatean museum with horseback riding, the Roman Theatre, Rainbow Tombs, and the Canyon. As a result of the color of the stone used, Petra is also known as Rose City.
- Pick up from your hotel early in the morning and travel for around three hours to Taba port
- catch the ferry boat to Aqaba at 07.30 a.m., arriving at 08.45 a.m.
We begin the journey on foot, walking through the Siq or Canyon, a one-kilometer-long steep, twisting valley.
The Edomites previously inhabited Petra’s stunning sandstone formations. One of the reasons Petra was so appealing to the Nabateans was its virtual concealment behind the Siq,
a shallow and easily defendable canyon. When you near the end of this lovely valley, A relatively tiny entrance provides access to one of Petra’s most stunning attractions, the Treasury.
Researchers dispute whether it was cut out of the sandstone rock face in the first or second centuries BC. After the Treasury, we will visit the Roman theatre, which goes back to the Byzantine era,
as well as the Royal tombs. Nothing is known about the Nabateans’ ancient civilization other than the fact that they were extraordinary engineers with incredible talent and craftsmanship.
They fashioned their dwellings, temples, and tombs out of the rocks, as well as water conservation and irrigation systems.
In the Movenpick hotel in the heart of the city, lunch will be provided.
Following that, we will continue our excursion to the hill of Al-Habis fort, which dates back to crusader times,
for a stunning panoramic view of deep gorges and wonderfully colored rock formations.
